How to Cook a Thanksgiving Turkey is an Elementary Creative Writing Activity that is NO PREP (ready to print and use!) and it’s completely FREE!
Most students have eaten turkey for Thanksgiving, but how many of them know how to cook one? The purpose of this writing activity is to allow your students to creatively explain how they would cook the Thanksgiving turkey! This creative writing activity guides your students through the writing process with a brainstorming sheet and a template for the final draft. The brainstorming sheet gets them to think about what they will need to cook the turkey and the steps they would take to cook it. The final draft sheet gives students space to draw a picture and write down their own creative recipe. These turkey “recipes” can be quite hilarious and fun! They will for sure be cherished for years to come!
As an option, teachers can take the students’ recipes (or make copies of them) and put them into a classroom cookbook binder to keep, cherish, and display! A cookbook cover is included for this option!
